What is the be your own boss program?

The Be Your Own Boss program is a practical and collaborative way of introducing students and the unemployed to the concept of becoming self employed. Supported by mentors they have the opportunity to develop their own business ideas.


Job networks and community education

Expanding the conversation from job seeking to job creation, this practical and engaging program will assist participants to understand what attributes are desirable in a business owner and how to scope out a potential business opportunity in their local community. At the conclusion participants will have a business idea ready to develop with support through the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme or can simply get started.


Secondary School Program

Make your school stand out from the crowd as you meet the needs of students and your community in a new dynamic way. This practical program brings educators, students, and the local business community together and opens up the potential for young people to live and work in rural towns. Jointly facilitated by a local teacher and a local business person, this program comes complete with a tried and tested class plan linked to the curriculum.

 
 

How Much Does It Cost?

A fully facilitated Be Your Own Boss Program is valued at $5,000, however, can be tailored to meet your budget.

The program is offered free to secondary schools as part of the Operation Next Gen Program.

An online program supported by mentoring provides templates and a step-by-step guide - $1,000

Online Delivery supported by mentoring

An alternative to a fully facilitated program is to access a step-by-step guide and mentoring from Kerry to access this exciting program. All you need is one enthusiastic teacher and a well networked business person to get started. This program will enlist the support of your local Shire Council (economic development) and Progress Association and help form a positive and ongoing relationship that will strengthen your rural town.

Online training will be provided at a pace and time to suit you. Detailed notes and online resources links provided as well as ongoing support and advice from Kerry. You will then be fully equipped to continue delivering this program well into the future.
